The Manhattan Choral Ensemble is a 40-voice, independent choir dedicated to engaging the community through passionate performance of choral masterworks and contemporary compositions. The MCE performs in historic New York spaces and creates concert events in partnership with the city’s cultural organizations. Winner of the 2016 ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming, the MCE fosters the musical life of the city through its innovative commissioning project of New York City area composers, New Music for New York.
Our 2017 – 2018 program consists of A Lowlands Christmas (Dec 8 & 10, 2017), our signature New Music for New York composer competition program, which this year will include Brahms quartets (March 10, 2018), and the fourth in our new series of re-imagined choral works, Carmina New York (May 19, 2018), which will comprise excerpts from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and new works by New York composers inspired by Carmina Burana.
